Create Groups in Google Classroom!

Here is a video from the Google Gooru that explains how you can create groups in Google Classroom, and at the same time allow your students to have more control over their projects. You can skip from about 2:25 to 3:00 as that section discusses how students access the assignment via gmail accounts. Picking back up at the 3:00 minute mark describes how students find the assignment in their drive.

Digital Citizenship: go from Acceptable to Empowered!

The Edutopia article titled Digital Citizenship: Developing a Culture of Trust & Transparency offers some great tips on putting a more positive spin on the typical AUG policy. In addition to the tips in the article, we suggest getting your students involved in creating the policies for your classroom.

For additional food for thought on digital citizenship, be sure to check out the great links here, too. Additionally, a wiki with grade level digital citizenship resources is here.

Using Tackk for a Classroom Blog

Tackk provides a very easy way to create and publish content immediately, with absolutely no web design experience necessary! It is also a great utility for creating a classroom blog. Here's how.

Log in to Tackk in the upper left corner of the screen. Login with your Google+ account.

Click "Allow"  to let Tackk access your basic information.

Click the green edit pencil at the top right of the screen, then select Blog. Add the title and compose your first post by following the onscreen prompts.

Be sure to uncheck the "Allow Anonymous Comments" box.

Click Options and set your Tackk to Private.

Click the Publish button and Tackk will generate a unique URL for you new blog page, which you can copy and paste to your class website. To interact on the class blog, students will sign in using the Google+ option, just as you did when you started.

Seems super easy! If you decide to try Tackk, we'd love to know about it. Tweet the link and mention @pisdtech!

Welcome to Our Blog!

Hello, Plano ISD Teachers, and anyone else who has found your way to our new blog site! We are starting up this blog as a means of sharing technology tips and suggestions that you can then share with others on your campus. Our goal is to support your curricular objectives and enhance your students' learning through appropriate technology integration.

Technology integration should not be seen as "one more thing to do" (we are guessing you have plenty to do!) but a seamless blending of technology tools into what you are probably already doing in your classroom. We'll be supplying theory and tips in the coming weeks. We hope you will follow this blog and check back often to get the latest Tech-tastic information for your Future Ready classroom!

Interested in creating your own blog? Contact us and we'll help you!
